3 eggs in a nest

I think it would look better with a gold chain, but my only gold chain is missing at the moment. (and yes, that is my pasty white skin)

I have wondered since I made this if I should even post about this. Since I'm not much of a jeweler, and I first saw it on the crafty crow who linked to Rhubarb Sky but of course she followed the tutorial on Just Something I Made (hence why I was hesistant to re-post). Anyway, so if you've all seen this and made one and moved on, I do apologize. But I love it so much I decided to share. If  you want to make it go to one of those sites and they have fabulous tutorials. I didn't really read them, I just looked, and read far enough to know the beads all go on first and then  you wrap it around. The idea germinated for a few days before I had some spare time to dig out my only metal wire-gold and some beads. I kind of think it would be more fun if I'd made it more loopy and perhaps bigger. But no, it's just right the way it is. It would be a fun Easter gift wouldn't it?

the heart headband

I'm really not usually a huge valentine celebrator-you couldn't tell from all the posts, eh? Maybe it's something about kids or having a girl now? I don't know, maybe it's freebie friday that's got my mind thinking about it.

This idea for a headband popped into my head about the time I was going to sleep. And like any practical mother who has to take that moment when it comes (aka when the kids are asleep) I got out the felt right then and there and made this fun little headband. It took about 10 minutes-

All I did was fold the fleece in half, cut out a heart (from two layers of felt at once), and then stitched them together with a little embroidery floss and stitched them onto some headband elastic. Pretty simple, but fun for Valentine's eh?

psudo Tutorial: Rosette headband

I have a little dish on my dresser where odds and ends hang out. Mostly jewelry and hair accessories I'm too lazy to put away, change, you know that stuff. . . I was digging through it a couple of days ago and made a little connection. I had a left over rosette from making this, and a piece of shiny elastic. I thought, why not sew that rosette on the elastic-I actually had another rosette floating around as well, and make one of those hairbands that have sprouted up everywhere. It was super easy, and well, I thought I'd show you how I did it. I don't know how clear it will be though, hence the post title.

Need:

jersey fabric sewn into a rosette. (find rosette tutorial I used here.) The bigger rosette is simply a strip of jersey twice as long as the little one.

elastic headband (or shiny elastic)

scrap of felt

needle and thread.



1. cut out a piece of felt the same size as the bottom of your rosette.
2. sew the felt onto the underside of the elastic/headband. I'm betting that their is no "underside" to the elastic headbands-but there was to my elastic-and I did the little one wrong.
To sew the felt on I went through the center of the elastic and then up on the outside of it through the felt so that it made a bit of a crows foot pattern on the felt-that way the elastic won't curl. I don't know if this is really necessary-or clearly explained :)
3. Sew the rosette onto the felt sandwiching the elastic/headband between the two.
This is what my completed headband looks like on the back: I didn't sandwich the little one, and I don't think it will hold up as well.

button clips

Button clips are probably old news by now. But, I love them. I've never gotten around to making any though. That changed this weekend, and I finally made a couple. I'm definitely making more-I just want to get some smaller little clips first. Here's a great tutorial if you're interested in making some of your own.
