Animal Alphabet Giveaway

I've put some new ABC cards up in the shop--look familiar? I originally made them as posters, but I'm kind of loving the smaller size of the 4 inch by 5 inch cards. I made a fun little book for my kiddos by putting the Animal shaped Alphabet Cards into a simple photo album. My animal loving sweetie has been enthralled with it.

They've been a bit of a hit, and we really haven't had a giveaway for a long time . . . so we're having a giveaway!

To enter for the printable Animal Alphabet leave a comment telling me what you'd do with the Animal cards.

Giveaway ends Monday, May 7th. One winner will be posted May 8th.

enjoy!

Baptism Toppers

My oldest nephew on my husband's side turned eight in March, which means a very exciting event occurred. He got baptized! In our church children are baptized at eight rather than as an infant. We believe children aren't held accountable for their choices before this and therefore can't "sin." (Yeah they still make wrong choices but they're mistakes are covered through the Savior's atonement before eight--without needing repentance). Anyway, at eight we believe they are old enough to decide if they want to be baptized and also to start choosing right from wrong and start repenting for mistakes. (the CTR stands for "Choose the Right").

Anyway, so I volunteered to make cupcakes for the big event and of course they needed toppers! So this is what I came up with--simple but fun. I feel bad that I didn't get any pictures at the luncheon with the toppers in the cupcakes. . . I just did white frosting with a few blue sugar sprinkles. They went fast!

They were such a hit that I thought I'd offer them to you. I know they don't apply to all, but some times those religious printables are hard to find when you're looking for them! You can now find my baptism toppers in my etsy shop personalized with the name and color of your choice. Find them here.

In the shop: Animal Shaped Alphabet Toppers

I've just posted these fun Animal shaped alphabet circles

The idea of these toppers was to make my ABC posters a little more accessible, and useable. They are fun on a wall, but I want to use them in more ways.

The possibilities of these circular little ABC's created by animal bodies are pretty vast. Here are some ideas:

Obviously you can use them as cupcake toppers
How about as a card embellishments
A small gift tag
A monogrammed seal for kids gifts, favor bags, etc . . .
Make a mini word banner for the top of a cake or a small space
Turn into stickers
Make into a matching game
Make into badges or a knecklace

Anyway, pretty fun. Find them here

a cowl scarf

I'm not a really great crocheter and I don't know how to knit, but I had this left over yarn from Halloween and it was so thick and yummy gray. I couldn't pass it up. It was asking to become a scarf. The first time I started crocheting it looked dumb, so I undid it. The second time it was too bunchy. The third time it wasn't the right gauge. So I guess this time it was the fourth time that was the charm. But it ended up going really fast. It helped that I didn't have enough yarn to make a long scarf-so it's more of a cowl. But isn't it cozy? Crocheting is kind of a soothing occupation (for every now and then anyway).

Also, just a friendly reminder that the ABC Animal Poster giveaway is still going on . . . go leave a comment!

coming soon . . .

So I've got some exciting news . . . I'm finished with my Animal Letter Posters. I drew every letter but X (by hand with my mouse). As soon as I take decent pictures I can start putting them up on etsy. But here's the thing. I'm thinking about doing printed posters, not printable posters. I need your input.

Next week I will be a giving away an animal letter poster of your choice. If you comment on this post you will get another entry into next weeks giveaway. Comment letting me know if you would rather buy a printable poster you can print over and over again, or one printed poster (they would be the same price + shipping).

THANKS SO MUCH!!

ABC Flashcards Giveaway!!

I must be on an ABC kick what with getting the little buddy ready for preschool! Yep, we're just doing a little joy school, so it will be fun to be one of his teachers. We're both pretty excited about that. So I hung up these ABC flashcards to take pictures of them, but they were so fun up on the wall that we've decided to make them a permanent fixture.

So maybe it's mean trickery that these aren't a freebie . . . but I do have them up in my etsy shop! I know my blogs probably mostly just good for freebies, but occasionally I spend a whole lot of time working on something and I feel like it's worth a little more than just free :) Sometimes it's a hard call whether to give something away or sale it. Don't hate me.

Anyway, onto the giveaway. I will be giving away TWO pdf Printable ABC Polka Dot flashcard sets away. These cool ABC's are each different, yet only use red, yellow and blue. The different sized polka dots make the red and yellow, or red and blue, or yellow and blue turn into secondary colors (same idea behind pointilism). Simple and fun fun fun.

Here are the rules:

1. Comment and tell me your favorite letter of the alphabet
2. Get a second "entry" by following me, or telling me you already do.
3. Giveaway will be announced next Thursday, September 1st.

Enjoy!

ABC Posters Discount & Old Files

Okay,

So here's the deal. I've been getting lots of emails with people wanting my old files-most of which aren't linked up anymore. Here's why: All my old files I hosted through google groups. They've discontinued that service, and so none of the links work. I'm slowly working to re-upload them to scribd and relink them all. Hopefully I will get them done soon. So far I've uploaded all my striped birthday freebies, the dinosaur shapes, and my menu planner. So if you've been wanting a file that isn't working, you can either wait until I can get it uploaded to scribd, or you can email me and I will email you the file! Happy printing!

On to more exciting news:

My latest project, one that I'm very excited about,  my ABC posters that I've added to my shop. I'm still in the designing (aka drawing them free hand on the computer) works, but have finished A-G. Aren't they fun? I'm excited to put some of them up in my own kids rooms. I can see them in a nursery or playroom too! What about to spell out a word? fun fun. Over the next few weeks I will be adding the rest of the alphabet. I'm considering also adding a printed version, comment if you would be interested in that option. It would probably be a little cheaper.

The idea stemmed from wanting to make a funner flashcard set, but there are so many flashcard sets out there, including my own! But OH how I love letters, type and design-the three mixed together just make me want to jump up and down. So, I keep coming back to it. Anyway, in honor of this latest project there will be a 20% off discount code for the next two weeks at my shop. Just type in  ABC0811  in the coupon code box at check out! Happy shopping!

Chase Me

So, my Great Grandpa is a funny guy. (Yep in his 90s and going strong). When I was younger and he was a bit livelier he'd entertain us with stories and songs sung with his accordion and tell us poems he made up. Cool guy. This was my favorite poem:

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
You chase me and
I'll run slow.

We all thought it was hilarious and would laugh and laugh. Well, I still laugh.

I've put a printable poster up in my shop today-but because I really love my Grandpa, come back tomorrow and get it as a freebie friday. Yeah, it will ONLY be available FRIDAY. After that it will just be in my etsy shop.

come come.

red goodness.

First, I've just put a fun subway art Valentine poster up in my shop.

Second, I thought I'd share the yummiest cherry cheese cake recipe-but it's a no cook cheese cake and very sweet. If you're into a heavy cooked "real" cheesecake, this isn't it. But mmmm m m m my mouth is watering now. Kids LOVE it!

yep, this is a birthday cake. Every year this is the hunny's request.

Cherry Cheese Cake

2 1/2 c. cracker crumbs
1/2 c. margarine
1 pkg of dream whip
8 oz. cream cheese
1 t. vanilla
3 T. milk
1 c. powdered sugar
can of cherry pie filling

Melt the margarine and mix with cracker crumbs and spread out in an 9x13 inch pan. Prepare the dream whip according to package directions. Add cream cheese, sugar, vanilla and milk and mix until smooth or almost. Spread out over crumb crust, top with cherries (don't spread, just drop) Chill and serve.

So, i've been working on a fabric envelope for my lace-up dolls. Tomorrow I hope to have a little tutorial for you and a pattern too! I hope I'll also have some boy lace-up dolls before Christmas (no promises though). It's just a crazy busy time of year, eh?

In other news, today the free Christmas card designs are up on Becky Higgins Blog-and I'm so excited to say one of the designs is mine! (the green striped one). Go and get yourself a free christmas card design!

Finally, I've also updated the shop with some flags and Christmas Nativity art . . .

Word Trains

The little buddy has had a lot of fun playing with these word trains I've just posted in the shop. So much fun, in fact, that I didn't even finish cutting them out before he was stealing them away. Right now we're working on spelling his name (nope, it's not John). It seems to be working, he can recognize it now and knows what letter it starts with. Progress! Get your own set here. Small Christmas gifts for friends anyone? Thanksgiving distractions?

citrus alphabet cards

I'm feeling the need for spring, seriously. So, here's to spring with some fresh citrus inspired alphabet cards all hand drawn (on the computer). They're now available in my etsy shop-go check them out here! More color options should be coming soon.

Some posters using the same letters are also in the works . . . still working on print sizes. Would you prefer an 8 x 10 or 11 x 14? Of one of these: (Let me know-when I get them figured out we'll do a giveaway!)

memory game

Yesterday was a rainy day. The little buddy and I needed something fun and new to do. So . . . using many graphics I had already drawn, and adding a few more, I made these go fish or memory game cards. We played the memory game with them - except kept the cards face up. I think the lemon yellow bird and the chartreuse alligator are my favorites! A few things need to be fixed, but I think they may end up in my shop!
