spoonflower

I'm sure most of you have heard of Spoonflower, but if you haven't, it's a place where you can upload your own designs and have them printed on fabric. You can also print fabric others have designed. It's pretty darn cool. My only hang up is I'm a tight wad, and I just can't bring myself to dish out $18+ a yard (depending on the fabric type). Someday . . . in the mean time I get really excited when they have a free fabric swatch day so I can see what my designs look like printed. They come around every so often. If I could get on the ball I would enter their weekly fabric design contest too. Either way it's a good resource to know about!

great finds: changing pad

I always get a little bit frantic when a baby shower comes around. What's the perfect gift? What might they already have? What would be useful, but unique? About a million different options come up, and are simultaneously rejected. Now I wish I were telling you that I've found a solution to this problem, but alas, I have not. Every baby shower is different. But, the last baby shower I went to was a diaper shower, and I found this great tutorial online that seemed to fit the bill perfectly. Diaper related, but not diapers per say. I found this changing pad wallet at chickpea sewing studio. It was easy to follow and quick to make-and surprisingly big. The only thing I would change if I made it again would be to sew a flat button on the front rather than one with a shank-so it doesn't stick into your baby's back when you lay her down on it. (but maybe that was my problem with placement). Anyway, I was really happy with the way it turned out. I may have to make myself one now . . .

are you sick of baby posts yet?

tastes

photo via sutton grace

I have a hard time knowing what I like sometimes. Part of that could be a result of growing up in a large family where hand-me-downs were the rule, not the exception. You learned to like what was available because there weren't a lot of choices. A big family was a lot of fun though, I just don't always have an opinion about what I like. Of course there are a few standards that I've always loved, and I know I love them. Like the color yellow, and simple, basic clean designs. But other times I just don't know what I want-like the colors or style of my bathroom. I really just have no clue what I want. Do you ever struggle to know what you prefer when you have a choice? Maybe it's just me. Anyway, I came across this AWESOME chair the other day and I am in love. Sometimes it just hits you and you know you LOVE something. I love this chair. Check it out.

On a side note . . .

I finally made a button-check it out right there on the right side---> and grab it if you want! Just copy the code, open your layout and add an html/java script sidebar gadget and paste it in. cool.

ribbon rosettes

I LOVE this ribbon rosette tutorial found over at Cute as a Fox. It is simple and easy, and cute for any age girl. I tried it out with white ribbon and was in love. I made it into a brooch. Perfect for Mother's Day, eh?

finger print valentine cards

I found these great free printable notecards at How About Orange . . . Perfect to make into valentine cards, eh? The little buddy and I had a lot of fun using pink and red ink pads to decorate them. The plan was to make heart fingerprint "flowers" on the stems. Didn't he do a great job? There are so many things you could do with these- and not just for Valentine's Day. I'm excited to use them again! You can find them here.
