Moving

We found out last Monday that we are moving! (across country no less) So this is what I've been doing like a crazy woman all week. I probably won't be around for another week or two much. But hopefully I'll have some fun things to share when it's all done!

Have a great Independence Day! If you didn't get my 4th of July Toppers last year they should still be there, but I'm also re-uploaded them to scribd. And you can get them there as well.

enjoy!

Last minute ways to show your dad how you love him? Stick these "toppers" into cupcakes, breakfast pancakes, heck you could even put them in pizza!  You could make them a sticker or label for a gift too.

Get the toppers here!

Freebie Friday: Father's Day Folded Cards

Father's Day is coming up quick! Have you got a card yet? If not, grab one of these fun pop up cards.
Two options today: A simple pop up card that says "We are your biggest fans" on the front, and a cool spinning origami type pop card that says "You make the world go 'round" on the front. See a cool video of it in action here. Okay, I'll admit the spinning father's day card is not for the faint of heart. Just remember, dad's like cool gadgety things right? The hunny sure thought it was awesome anyway.

I can't take credit for the Spinning Father's Day Card. I found the master plan for it here. I probably should have made the circle one, but alas my brain has a hard time thinking in 3D and tonight wasn't the night for being extra technical. Get the printable here.

And finally a few visual instructions:

Cut card in half. Write or draw something fun on the inside center :

  Cut on blue lines.

Fold dotted lines as mountains and black solid lines as valleys being anal careful not to fold parts you shouldn't. The center gets really tricky. The "master plan" I copied suggested using tweezers in the center. Not a bad idea.

Wiggle and prod until it folds up correctly. It should spin around as it folds shut.See a video of it here.

The second card is a simple pop up card. Get it here. Definitely faster and easier but maybe not quite as cool!

A few visual instructions:

cut card and hand out:

Fold hand in half matching tabs:

fold card in half. Fold tabs on hand out:

Tape tabs to inside of card. (I used double stick tape, stuck one side on about an  inch out from center and then shut the whole thing to get the second tab in the right spot).

Thrify Finds

We ventured out Monday for a trip to the thrift store. The little buddy insisted he didn't need to use the bathroom but added, "the frift store has a toilet." I told him I wasn't sure (after all I do my best NOT to find out). Of course we had only been there for 10 minutes when he announces "I have to use the toilet!" Lo and behold they did have a bathroom-through the sorting "back room" up a flight of stairs and at the end of the hall. We finally get there and the buddy says, "Is it scary?" I don't know what prompted that. Other than the bright pink walls it wasn't too scary, it could have been worse.

But the thrifting was pretty good. I got some good vintage sheets, and the gingham yellow on the bottom of the stack is actually a set of curtains. My mom had yellow gingham curtains in her kitchen when I was growing up. I hadn't really planned to do the same, but when I saw those I decided in the first place we move that actually has a window in the kitchen-they're going up! Then we found that awesome mirror for only $2.50! I was pretty excited. The little silver plates I'm debating whether to spray paint them or not. Either way they are fun pretend props. I also got a bunch of books. I'd never realized how cheap the books are at this thrift store: on Mondays (every thing is half off) the hardback are 50 cents and the softbound are 25 cents! And since I've decided to start collecting Nancy Drew and  The Hardy Boys books this is pretty awesome! I can't tell you how much I love thrift stores. Seriously. It's a toss up between that and Target clearance!

Yes, I also have a yellow gingham plastic table cloth. . . . that one was from a different thrift store :)

Freebie Friday: Thank You Tags

I apologize for not being around much lately. I want to blame it on the little sweeties frequent night wakings, but despite being up several times every night I still don't want to go to bed early! It's hard giving up my "free time." So, my lack of sleep is making me pretty unproductive. Any ideas on how to get her to sleep through the night?

Anywhoo . . . these thank you tags match the birthday printables I made last year-I thought they would be easier than the thank you favor boxes. They would also be fun as thank you tags for teacher gifts (if you're still in school :) And lots of other thank you opportunities!

You can now find these tags as part of the Primary Colors Birthday Package available in my etsy shop by clicking here.
